Finance Committee
Mission Statement:
Provides financial guidance and advice to the pastor and pastoral council observing both Church and civil law
in the sound management fo the temporal goods of the parish.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of the annual budget.
- Monitors the revenues and parish assets, reviews expense payments to enusre budget compliance.
- Reviews the parish's financial, banking and investment statements.
- Overseens parish investments in accord with Archdiocesan norms.
- Provides oversight of the parish's accounting procedures.
- Monitors the parish's debt, if there is one.
- Provides advice, consideration and recommendations on financial matters for the parish priest, pastoral council and parish committees.
- Special projects related to the church's accounthing practices, investments, or finances.
- Provides consulation to the pastor on all matters requiring proxies by the parish civil corporation.
Group Membership:
- Members are appointed by the pastor based on their qualifications.
- Members should possess strong accounting, finance, and business experience and/or education.
- Appointment terms are for three years. Members may be appointed at the discretion of the pastor.
- The finance committee shall consist of 5 to 7 members.
- The committee shall vote annually at the January meeting for the following officers: chairperson, vice chairperson, and secretary.
- Committe officers may be expected to represent the finance committee at pastoral council meetings, parish-wide meetings, other committee meetings, or as requested by the pastor.
- Committee members are expected to spend three to five hours per month on finance related activities. Officers may be expected to spend additional time.
Meetings:
Monthly meetings are held in the parish center on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Those wishing to attend should ask the pastor or finance committee chairperson ahead of time.

Future Planning
Our future planning commitee, known as "Faithfully Planning Our Future" ("FPOF" for short) is on hold until at least August of 2010 because of the strategic planning process of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, which was initiated in February 2009 and is scheduled for completion around July 2010.
