Home Blessing
Father Jenson is now offering home blessings one Saturday a month (must be a registered parish member to request). To sign up, please contact the Parish Office at hello@saintsppta.org or 763.420.2385, or complete the request form below. Why have a home blessed? A home blessing is a religious practice of prayer and dedication.
-
Asking for God’s protection and peace. The blessing includes prayers asking God to protect the people who live there and help the home be a place of peace, love, and hospitality.
-
Dedicating the home to God. It can symbolize an intention to live out Catholic values within the household.
-
Starting a new chapter. People sometimes have a home blessed after moving in, getting married, having a child, or going through a significant change.
-
Home blessings are a traditional Catholic practice.
-
Comfort during a difficult period. Someone experiencing grief, conflict, or anxiety may find the prayer and ritual meaningful.
A typical blessing might involve the priest walking through the home, praying in different rooms, reading Scripture, and sprinkling the rooms with holy water. From a Catholic perspective, the blessing is a prayer asking God to bless the people and activities associated with the home.
